New Y Capital Campaign

The new Nashua Y, adjacent to Stellos Stadium, Mine Falls Park and Conway Arena, just off exit 5W is NOW OPEN and will serve our community for generations to come.  Thank you to all who have stepped forward to support the Y’s first capital campaign in 37 years!

Even though the new Nashua Y is open, just over $1 million remains to be raised to sustain the life-changing work that the Y provides every day to thousands of our neighbors, and those who are most in need.

The $10.5 million capital project includes building the new facility and implementing strategies to improve the Merrimack facility and Camp Sargent. The proceeds from the sale of the old Y, $2 million in donations  to date, and bank financing have provided 90% of the funds needed.  However there is still a shortfall that we must raise immediately to advance our mission, successfully implement vital initiatives in wellness and youth development and serve everyone regardless of ability to pay.

How and why was the Nashua Y built before all the funds were raised?

The answer is simple; our mission for the past 124 years has been to instill values and provide opportunities for lifelong personal growth and the development of a healthy spirit, mind, and body for all.

We had the opportunity to sell our old Y building to Southern New Hampshire Medical Center, providing a crucial part of the $10.5 million needed to build the new Y, but it also meant the Y would have to vacate the Prospect Street Y sooner than optimal. So, rather than wait to build until all funds were in place, we decided to accelerate the project to avoid  interruption in service to our members, program participants and community groups.

What does not raising the last $1 million mean?

The additional cash outflow per year with $1.3 million in debt will be $165,000 per year for the next 10 years. That means we will have $165,000 less cash annually to spend on:

  • Serving Children, Adults & Seniors Most in Need
  • Merrimack Y Capital Improvements
  • Providing the Best Quality Programs & Services at all Y facilities

How Can I Help?

No gift is too big or too small. Pledges may be spread out over time or by using planned gift vehicles. Naming rights for key areas in the facility like the aqautic center, basketball court and signage related to the green aspects of the building are still available and all donors of $1,000 and more will appear on our permanent donor wall. This wall will be updated in the future to reflect new gifts. Thank you for your consideration. Your support will truly make a difference!

Many thanks to the hundreds of Y supporters and thousands of Y members who make the YMCA of Greater Nashua a special place each and everyday.
