Capital Campaign Leadership Announced
YMCA CAPITAL CAMPAIGN LEADERSHIP ANNOUNCED 5/7/09
NASHUA — The YMCA of Greater Nashua announces the leadership committee for its recently launched capital campaign, Proud Heritage…Exciting Future, an effort dedicated to raising the necessary $3 million to construct a new, state-of-the-art facility in Nashua across from Stellos Stadium. The committee is chaired by former Nashua Mayor Bernie Streeter, and also consists of Vice Chairman Thomas Long, YMCA of Greater Nashua CEO Mike LaChance, Campaign Associates Consultant, Gary Willette, and President of the YMCA of Greater Nashua Board of Directors Steve Russell.
“I am tremendously excited to be working with such a dedicated, enthusiastic, and highly skilled team,” said LaChance. “This team has an awesome task before it, but I am fully confident that we will all work together, and provide sound direction and guidance to the various committees and sub-committees working with us, to make this ambitious goal possible.”
“This is certainly a momentous and critical time in the history of the YMCA of Greater Nashua, and I could not be more fortunate to have such a leadership committee working with me at this time,” LaChance added.
Streeter has been involved with the YMCA throughout his life – attending the Keene YMCA starting at the age of 5, participating in Y programs with his daughter, involved with the Lowell YMCA, and has been a member of the Nashua YMCA since moving to the city. He even attended the dedication of the current facility on Prospect Street when it opened in 1964.
Long is the immediate Past President of the YMCA of Greater Nashua Board of Directors and been involved with the YMCA since 1992. He can be found working out every morning at the Merrimack YMCA, which is a branch of the YMCA of Greater Nashua. He is the owner of The Long Group and resides in Nashua.
LaChance has served in a variety of leadership roles in over 20 years of service with YMCA’s across New England. He has been a Youth Director, Aquatic Director, and Camp Director. Mike has over 15 years of experience with the YMCA of Greater Nashua. During his tenure he has served as Branch Executive Director, Operations Director, and for the last five years, has served as the CEO.
Willette, a former CEO at the Lowell, Mass. and Portland, Maine YMCAs, has led several successful YMCA capital campaigns nationwide through his current position with Campaign Associates.
Russell, the current president of the YMCA of Greater Nashua Board of Directors, is the Program Engineering Manager at Elbit Systems of America, in Merrimack. He is also involved with the Merrimack Rotary Club.
Programs and services have adapted over the YMCA of Greater Nashua’s 122 years, reflecting changing community needs and dynamics. The YMCA’s mission is the guiding force: to instill values and provide opportunities for lifelong personal growth and the development of a healthy spirit, mind, and body for all.
